Can it be re-upholstered?
Yes! Gonzalo our upholsterer has 40+ years of experience and used to work for Mattagliano and Holly Hunt on beautiful custom upholstery and has completed over 5,000 pieces. You can send your own fabric at cost or choose from over 1,000 in-stock fabrics for free. Just tell us the colors you like and if you want a certain texture or pattern and our team will help you select options that suit your style and needs perfectly.
What process do you use?
Each piece starts with woodworking adjusting drawers and doors, re-gluing old joinery and dowels, and any fixes or custom improvements like adding holes for cords or shelves, increasing, decreasing height, etc. Then the piece is sanded and any dents, scratches, watermarks, or chips are fixed. It’s then stained to the color you like (standard is the original color you like and darkened, lightened, or even changed to a custom color and any faded or contrasting areas are toned to a single tone. Then it’s sealed with a layer of satin lacquer and finished with 1-2 layers depending on how much grain you like to see. Then we add a heavy-duty topcoat on dining and coffee table for extra life and protection from kids/pets and clumsy family members over the holidays. The last step is a quality control check and another round of cleaning and fine detailing to make sure it’s exactly how you requested it. You then get photos of the piece to make sure everything looks good or if you want to check on something before delivery. You can come to see it in person too before delivery.

Can it be fixed?
Yes! If it’s an original solid wood piece we can fix it. Hardest part is if you want to work on a newer piece usually from the 90’s or newer that’s made from particle or MDF board. We review the photos you send in and go over the way we fix it and the cost upfront. If we discover something else when it arrives we reach out right away to discuss it. If it’s something we can fix at the same time we’ll take care of it and only reach out if it’s gonna take more time and materials. you won’t get a call.
Can it be refinished?
Absolutely. Any original piece can be refinished in it’s original color or a new updated color. Some woods like walnut, teak and rosewood have a natural color that we can keep without staining for the natural look everyone loves.
Is it only Mid-Century pieces you refinish?
No, we work with a range of furniture styles, though we specialize in Mid-Century pieces. Our team has expertise in handling various types of furniture, ensuring each piece receives the care and attention it deserves.
Is the quality good?
Absolutely. Quality is our top priority, our team has restored over 8,000 vintage and antique pieces since Covid and we use them. Our goal is to ensure each piece is restored or refinished to the highest standards.
Will it be to shiny?
Standard finish is satin which doesn’t look flat or dusty and allows the color and grain to show through without it feeling like a highly lacquered shiny piece. This gives that polished look everyone likes today. We can also raise or lower the gloss level to make it pop even more and bring out the colors the most or lower it to flatten the sheen and mute the natural color.
How long will it take?
It takes a week on average to complete. Each step takes a day or so (woodworking, staining, finishing & quality control. We start most projects the week we pickup or drop off so they can be ready for pickup or delivery in as little as 2 weeks. If extra woodworking or upholstery is needed it can extend the timeline and we’ll let you know when you submit your piece for a same-day quote.
